First Android-based phone: HTC dream frm T-mobile debuts today. The new smart phone, HTC Dream from T-Mobile will be the first handset to run Google’s new mobile operating system, Android. while it won’t look as sleek as the iPhone, it promises to give mobile-phone users a lot more freedom and flexibility.
Android has several other key advantages over the iPhone OS. One of the major limitations of iPhone arrangement is that, While Apple takes a top-down approach to app development — the company approves every program that is taken to App Store — Google will allow creators to upload any application to the Android Market without any review. Sure that means some duds will make it in, but it will also allow a much more open and democratic way for favorites to evolve. Â
Users will not be limited to a single phone or carrier for long. While T-Mobile’s HTC Dream will be the first phone to run Android, Google is inviting all carriers to develop handsets for the platform. Expect to see other compatible devices early next year. Most of the other features of Dream are expected to be similar to iPhone, including built-in GPS, an accelerometer for gaming and a camera. As Android comes from Google factory, one can obviously expect better web apps functionality, which means watching videos and downloading websites go fast and smooth.HTC Dream doesn’t look to be an iPhone killer in terms of style and sleekiness but it will feature a solid operating system onto which manufacturers can hitch their proprietary applications. Let’s see what we have over sleeves, todayt? will it be start of a revolution in mobile computing or just another market competition gone fragmented.
