Hack Optical Mouse Into Portable Scanner

Most of us don’t know that the optical mouse we use has a 18×18 camera. It can be used to capture images using serial port of your computer. The author hacked the mouse, and used a Visual Basic program to translate the data sent from mouse into an image.

Below is an image generated by the mouse. It isn’t great, but what else would you expect from a 18×18 camera! For more details and a step by step procedure, visit the author’s site.
