Coming Soon: Blu-ray Xbox?

After its short lived campaign for supporting doomed HD DVD format, Microsoft is in talks with Sony for bringing Blu-ray disc technology to Xbox 360. Atleast that’s what Financial Times is reporting. Acoording to reports (or Rumors, as they appear for now), Sony has approached Microsoft for inserting Blu-ray drives in to Xbox 360.

HD DVD, on one hand, is almost dead (we are calling it so because a lot of folks on our side don’t want it to be dead) and on ther side Sony is trying hard for promoting and adjusting Blu-ray technology for consumers. These two reasons seem to bring together the greatest rivals of Gaming arena But the real question is what might be the effects of this possible deal?

This deal would possibly materialize in terms of prices, as Blu-ray has pretty high price tags. Sony seems to be ready to give up the advantage that PS3 has now over Microsoft’s Xbox 360? As it appears, they’re not afraid of a little competition, and that’s not all, as Sony will also get some great revenue from a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360. So, clearly sony is thinking plain business over here.

Sources just a few weeks ago stated that Microsoft was going to get out a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360 as soon as this May, so we will have to see how it all goes.
