MojoPac is a new software that can knock out the precious laptops. It brings the true concept of mobile desktop that can be installed on a portable device (Both Flash and Hard disks) . When that drive is plugged into a host machine running Windows XP, A login screen appears and a new desktop gets loaded into RAM.
The desktop is more or less your own personal computer. You can install softwares, Copy files etc. So you can take your personal softwares with you. Just plug it into a Windows XP machine and your personal computer is ready! Good think is that it runs independently of host computer. Also, you can set your own password, thus protecting your new personal desktop from prying eyes.
When you log in, it also gives you the option of importing files and bookmarks from the host desktop, and it supports importing from Internet Explorer AND Firefox. This process is actually pretty easy to go through, and the MojoPac will warn you if you’re importing a lot of stuff by telling you that you’re importing a “HUGE” amount of data and that it may take a while. The features are good, but there is a latency whenever loading a program. But this was expected, as it is running off a USB 2.0 device.
There are some limitations while using MojoPac. First, It only support Windows XP 32 bit edition. No other operating systems. Although support for vista will be out soon! Secondly, it requires administrator privileges on the host computer. This can be annoying for those who are in academic institutions or any publicly available computer. Keeping aside these small problems, We really liked the interface and the level of mobility it provides. Hats off to you MOJO! 🙂
