Jailbreak iPod Touch 3.1.3 Using Redsn0w (or Redsnow) 0.9.4

This guide teaches you how to jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 using redsn0w (or redsnow) 0.9.4. The process is simple, and here we have a step by step guide jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 using redsn0w (or redsnow) 0.9.4.

Redsn0w can jailbreak iPod Touch 1G and  iPod Touch 2G(old models). New models of iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G are not supported.

Here is the guide:

  1. Upgrade to 3.1.3 using iTunes. You’ll need to pay a small fee to download and instal 3.1.3 on your iPod Touch. It may take some time.
  2. Download redsn0w for Windows or for Mac.
  3. Open redsn0w. Browse for iPod Touch 3.1.2 firmware. Yes you need 3.1.2 firmware for redsn0w not 3.1.3. Click “Next”.Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 Redsn0w 0.9.41 278x300 Jailbreak iPod Touch 3.1.3 Using Redsn0w (or Redsnow) 0.9.4
  4. Select “Install Cydia” and click “Next”.

  5. Make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer and click “Next”.

  6. Redsn0w will guide you to put the device in DFU mode. Do exactly as shown.

  7. Redsn0w will do its work now.Sit back and relax while it jailbreaks your iPod Touch.

Voila.You now have a jailbroken iPod Touch :)

    yo, i just figured out how to get it UNSTUCK from "waiting to reboot"....while its waiting turn on blackrain and "make it rain" ....it WORKED like a CHARM !!! let me know if it works for you !

    oh and just FWY if it doesnt work the first time, ur iphone will display a white cable (connect to itunes) RUN RED SNOW while the white cable is on the display and IT will work...just unlocked my 3.1.3 :) WOOooo

    Why not 3.1.3 firmware? Can i update it after JB?
  • Do not use or upgrade to 3.1.3 for now. It does not have any new features. And the tools are not yet compatible with it.

    when on the last step....(jailbreaking)...waiting for reboot....how long should this take??? My has been at least 15 minutes now!!! If that's not right...can i cancel out and start over???

    Do you need to run it as administrator in windows Vista? Or do you have to run it as windows XP?
  • Yes, If that does not work, try the compatibility mode.

  • MC models means 3rd generation iPods (and some late 2nd generation models too). No this method won't work for 3rd generation iPod models.
    You'll need to wait for new jailbreaking tools. I'll update the site once they are available.

    I have jailbroken my iphone 3G as this tutorial describes and I also have Cydia installed. But when I sync some apps with Itunes I still get the error 0xE8008001. So I think something went wrong. What could I do??

    Hey... I'm having a problem with my wifi and jailbroken ipod touch with redsn0w. every time I enter the itunes store or app store it pops up saying "invalid argument". what does this mean? anyone that has an idea please email me... I need help... thanks for answering.
    P.S. I can't connect to the internet either but the wifi symbol is still up!
