As expected, Apple announced its new flagship smartphone at its media event today. The new iPhone 5S is almost same in design as iPhone 5, but has some key upgrades to keep the smartphone rolling for an extra year.
iPhone 5S has same 1136×640 display, and looks the same as iPhone 5. However, it comes with 64 bit Apple A7 which boost the CPU and GPU performance as much as 2x as compared to iPhone 4 and 56x as compared to the “original iPhone”
iPhone 5S will also include new Motion co-processor M7 that can be used by fitness devices to process data from sensors without using core processing power from A7. The new camera has f2.2 aperture and a 15% larger sensor with bigger pixels.
iPhone 5s has true tone flash LEDs that can be used to take pictures in all lightning conditions. According to Apple, this will result in “more neutral skin tones and better colors.” A touch sensor ID is embedded in home button and can be used in place of passcode and Apple ID’s password. Home button would be clickable as before. The touch sensor data would be locally saved and would never be uploaded to Apple’s server. Battery life would be almost same as iPhone 5
The new iPhone 5S would be priced at $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, or $399 for 64GB with a two-year contract. The phone was announced along with the lower end iPhone – iPhone 5C
