Google’s new Public DNS is like a new OpenDNS. It claims to be faster, secure and private. Here are the steps needed to change the DNS to the new Google Public DNS addresses for Windows XP, Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10. The internet speed would be unaffected but the initial wait times would be decreased a bit. It has absolutely no effect on download speed.

So Google Wave is the next big thing by google. If you are lucky enough to get an invite for google wave, then you will like WaveBoard- a google wave client for MAC OSX and iPhone 3.0+ (including the latest iPhone 3.1.2).

External Links are shown on a separate integrated window. The client is itself very basic, but has some very cool features like “shake to reload or logout“.

It is not a free app. Costing $0.99, it is not much different than the standard Google Wave iPhone interface. If you are an avid google wave user, then I’d recommend that you wait for a more advanced application.

Download WaveBoard: Download through iTunes

From the official blog:

When we launched Google Sync for Contacts and Google Calendar earlier this year, an over-the-air, always-on connection to sync mail was noticeably absent. We heard your requests loud and clear, and starting today you can use Google Sync to get your Gmail messages pushed directly to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or Windows Mobile device.

You can set up push Gmail by itself or choose to sync your Contacts and/or Calendar as well. If you’re using an iPhone, make sure you’re running iPhone OS version 3.0 or above (on your device, click Settings > General > About and scroll down until you see Version). If your software is out of date, follow Apple’s upgrade instructions. Then, visit m.google.com/sync from your computer for set up instructions. If you’re already using Google Sync, you can just enable push mail.

Push connections uses more power. This means that your device would be drained quickly. This is especially true for iPhone users. Check out the Gmail blog for more information and setup guides.

Now there is more stable version of chrome 3, which comes with quite a few additional features.

New Google Chrome3 stable version

The addition of themes and the new start page come across as a surprise. These features were already available in the “unstable” beta builds of version 3 . So, for those who were already using version 3, there is nothing much to say – except that there are the bug fixes and therefore, this one is actually a stable version.

Here is review of some features:

New Home/ Tab Page

Most impressive new feature of chrome is its homepage. They have tweaked the design of the homepage and now you can rearrange thumbnails of most-visited websites by simple clicking and dragging. Moreover, users can “pin” the thumbnails to where they are so that they are not replaced by others in due course. The homepage is more customizable now, with the user getting options to show and hide what he wants on the homepage. This insures better privacy if your chrome is used by many users.

Themes Support

New features of Google Chrome3: Great Themes

Chrome now offers 29 themes and most of them are good Eyecandy. You will ahve download themes at Google Chrome’s theme page.

Omnibox is More Cool

You can give contextual icons so that you know beforehand if the term you’re looking for is a suggested site, a search result, or a bookmark.

Flashier came with Faster

Browse faster than before, quicker than previous chrome

They claim it to be zippier than before (previous stable version). You must have heard it already but go and try it yourself.

These visualizations can make you awestruck. Many visualizations, listed here, come with tools that you can use to create beautiful Facebook visualizations of your own with very little effort.

TouchGraph Facebook Browser

This Java based application lets you see the connections between your Facebook friends, with emphasis on photos; i.e., you can see which friends have taken photos together.

Facebook Friend Wheel

Friend Wheel is a simple Facebook application that creates a radial graph out of all your Facebook friends.

Nexus

This Facebook add-on lets you easily create 3D graphical representations of the connections in your Facebook network. You can also see graphs for other users, fine tune the settings to create various graphs, zoom and pan your graph, and choose between a light and a dark theme.

It’s a Flash web application and requires access to your Facebook account, but it opens right there on the author’s site. This creates a graph of mutual friends between you and one of your Facebook friends.

Tweeting at twitter can be much more than just sharing news or promoting your blog-posts. With tough economic times, there’s call for more innovative ideas and one may do that with finding jobs as well. With around 6 million users, you can exploit the power of Twitter to accomplish your quest for the hottest, most recent best paid jobs. Adding few lines about yourself and using variety of useful tools for creating professional portfolio can introduce you to opportunities and land a job, gain credibility in your field, and also help build good and meaningful professional networks. But only, joining Twitter and having many followers will not land you a job. For that, you have to take some well defined measures. Here’s how you can make twitter work for you to find jobs.

1. Focused and Effective Profile

Make your profile employer-friendly. For that you may write about your job quest in the twitter bio (160 characters) and upload your real image for the twitter avatar.

Have a Good headshot image of yours. Don’t put any images from a birthday party or picnic and neither leave your avatar with default avatar as nobody would be willing to share anything with a faceless user. Preferably, have a formal picture and the same picture that you’ve in all social networking sites to avoid confusion.

Put your real name or good variant of your name. Don’t write anything like “Max Red_Hot”. Your real name or a good variant which tells y0ur professional interest is good, like “blogger_max” is better.

Include a link to an online CV or resume in your bio. Link to your Linkedin profile or personal website if you’ve one. You can also use this great online tool: VisualCV

Make good use of your twitter background. You may create your own custom background using twibacks or you may also order one using premium services of twitterimage.

2. You and Your Strong Network

Ascertain yourself as an effective professional. Be careful when write about your skills and make your tweets relevant. Obviously, you don’t act as a lawyer if you are not one. In order to be an present yourself as thougtful and serious professional, tweet about thing you are passionate and knowledgeable about. Remove spammers and disinterested people from your followers list. Be more conversational by asking questions and reply to others if you know the answer using @ function.

Knowing and meeting right people. To know about people, who can turn out to be good contacts and also people who are looking for a person like you, you may consider following points: (1) their bio (2) Follower/Following ratio (how long they’ve been around and do they follow back?) (3) visit their website (4) Ask others about them. You can use twubble to figure out who your followers are following and you can have a huge network. Try and follow the major players of your industry. If you’re not sure about them, try twellow to find the real players. Thus, you can have a great opportunity to interact with them and put yourself on their radar.

Engage yourself and others. Post interesting tweets. Its better and more effective to post interesting quotes or helpful tips rather than when you slept or what you shopped. Check your industry blogs and post good articles, also your own thoughts about them. You can use TwitterFeed and TweetLater for saving time. Don’t forget to answer relevant tweets and re-tweet as communication is a two-way process.

3. Job Search Tools and Resources

TwitterJobSearch.com: TwitterJobSearch.com is a social media job search engine and is a product of WorkDigital Ltd.

microjobs: Brian Solis, well-known PR professional, @Microjobs was developed to bring together job seekers and recruiters through tweets. Recruiters begin their tweets with @Microjobs, and then submit. The @Microjobs account automatically tweets out requests to its growing network of job seekers.

tweetmyjobs.com: TweetMYJOBS is a service that brings recruiters, hiring managers and job seekers together on Twitter. Follow the hashtag #Tweetmyjobs and visit the website. You can subscribe to desired job channels and have new openings automatically sent to your mobile phone. Thereby, you get instant notification of open positions via text messaging.

Job Search accounts. There are many Twitter accounts dedicated to providing job listings by field, company, region, and more. An example is here:

        By field

Micro-blogging services have been attracting a lot of users lately. They are simple with no frills services which are great for both casual blogging as well as for serious purposes like blogging live about an event, concert etc.

While there are some search engines like the twitter search engine and Twingly, but they have their own drawbacks. Twitter search Engine is limited only to twitter and it sorts the tweets by date rather than by relevence. Twingly searches multiple Microblogging services and sorts the results on the basis of relevency. Google’s new search would be integrated with its main search, just like the Google’s blogsearch. This should be out soon, as Google’s Marissa Mayer said that the company would be “interested in offering microblogs results in their search”.
