Now you can install Android OS 2.2 Froyo on your iPhone 2G and 3G using iPhoDroid. iPhoDroid is a one click Android installer for Windows and Mac which enables dual booting iOS and Android using OpeniBoot. Android on iPhone is still buggy and there are no power management, which means that battery runs hot and battery discharges very fast. The WiFi is little buggy and touch screen isn’t very responsive too. Still, it is good to have android as a second operating system. There is a dual boot option as soon as you start your device. From there you can either choose iOS or Android as your operating system.
The installation is very simple. There is no need of WiFi or internet access on iDevice. Everything happens over USB. Here is a step by step guide to install Android on iPhone 3G/2G using iPhoDroid:
Note: Windows Version only works for iPhone 3G. For iPhone 2G, use iPhodroid for Mac.
Note: Use redsn0w to jailbreak if you intend to use iPhoDroid. It is recommended but should install on any jailbroken iPhone. You need afc2add if you used blackra1n. Search it on Cydia.
- You need to have jailbroken iPhone running iOS
- Download iPhoDroid from http://www.iphodroid.com/
- Run iPhoDroid and click on ‘Shoot!’.
After a few minutes, you’ll have an iPhone 3G running Android OS 2.2 Froyo. If you have iPhone 2G, use iPhodroid for Mac. The steps would remain the same.
