Fix WiFi, GPS and YouTube Issues with iPhone 3.1.2 Jailbreaked via Blackra1n (or Blacksn0w)

51

Blackra1n along with Blacksn0w can jailbreak and unlock all iPhone and iPod models having firmware 3.1.2 and 05.11.07 baseband. We have already covered a guide to Unlock and Jailbreak iPhone 2G/3G/3GS using Blacksn0w. Many users are complaining about WiFi, GPS or YouTube not working after they jailbreak with Blacksn0w. Especially WiFi is causing a lot of problems for users ho recently jailbreaked their iPhones. Here are two possible solutions for this problem. The second one worked for me and I’m finally able to browse using WiFi after 4 months. Here are the two methods:

Method 1- Reset Network Settings:

This is the most common fix. It may or may not work for some people. To apply this fix, do the following:

On your iPhone, goto Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. You may have to do this for a couple of times.

Method 2- Install Push Fix on your iPhone

This method is a new method. There is an application named “Push Fix” available through Cydia. Note that you’ll  need working internet on your iPhone (data plan). Here are the steps:

  • Start “Cydia” on your iPhone. Touch on “Manage” tab on the bottom and then on “Sources”.
  • Cydia iPhone WiFi fix

  • Touch on “Edit” and then “Add”. Then enter “http://cydia.pushfix.info” and tap “Add Source”.
  • Cydia will automatically update its application database.
  • Now tap “Search” at the bottom of Cydia and search for “Push Fix” .
  • push fix WiFi

  • Install Push Fix. Restart your iPhone.

Now test your WiFi. It should be working now. Else try restarting again. A couple of restart may fix the issue. Also, if the method stops working after some time, then reinstall the application. It’ll start working again.

Do write out in comments if it works for you (and if it doesn’t) or you need any help.

  3. Hi, I restored my Iphone 3G using OS 3.0 then jailbroken with Redsnow 0.8. But the WIFI could not work, no matter how I tried. (Reset Network Setting, Install Push Fix etc.). I unlocked it using the offline Ultrasnow 0.8 by Rizwan, which uses a batchfile to do the job.
Now I get my phone working, GPRS / EDGE working, but just no WIFI.
    Could you pls help ?
    thx
    Alex

  7. ozprimo says:

I'm sorry but this seems to be a pretty poor workaround. This is the second time I've gone through the whole blackrain/cydia unlock/jailbreak process to find that I now have lost wifi functionality again. I had to take the phone back before to do a complete “factory reboot” which of course fixed the problem but rendered my phone locked and in jail once again. I doubt I have the patience to keep going through this until there is a much more stable option available. I really do appreciate all that the hackers/programmers are trying to do but in the end, I want my phone to work with all funtions on at least one carrier.
Any suggestions before I go back to the shop again would be much appreciated.

  29. Matt says:

Just thought I would give everyone a run down of my hell and how I fixed it. I am using 3G 3.1.2 with baseband 05.11.07. I used blackra1n and blacksnow to jailbreak/unlock and use a China based SIM. Everything was great until today, when my WiFi just randomly went out and turned grey. When I say grey, I mean under SettingsWi-Fi, the option would be grey and read “No Wi-Fi”. Freaked me out that maybe my hardware gave out and I was going to have to go all the way back to the USA to get a replacement phone.

Reading through all the posts, I found this posting and others talking about a WiFi issue with blackra1n that could somehow be fixed by this PushFix. The crappy part is though, you can't do anything with an iPhone with no WiFi and now data service (EDGE, 3G) like me. I tried everything, from resetting network settings, to Restores, to complete redsn0w reinstall. I finally got it working with the following:

    1) Reinstalled 3.1.2 using redsn0w 0.9.2, since it installs Cydia directly. Using blackra1n, I couldn't download blacksnow to unlock my phone
    2) Let Cydia install and do its thing by running it
    3) Use Cyder and add repository blackra1n.com. Install blacksnow pkg to unlock the phone. Thankfully got me back to having a phone again.

Now I believe the following will fix the stupid grey “No WiFi” issue.
    1) Go to SettingsMail, Contacts, Calendars
    2) Switch Fetch New Data from Push to Off
    3) Go to SettingsGeneralResetReset Network Settings and click the big red Reset Network Settings button
    4) After the phone came back, WiFi was happily working again

I had tried Reset Network Settings many times before this and it did nothing. Restarting the phone did nothing. Draining the battery to 0 did nothing. Hopefully WiFi will continue to work from here on out. If it doesn't, I'll repost.

Hope you guys don't have to go through this hell too.

I unlocked and jailbroke my iPhone 2g with 3.1.2 firmware using redsn0w 0.9. The YouTube fix #2 that I found in cydia worked for YouTube, and wifi is fine. But I can’t access the Internet unless Im using wifi. I get a message from tmobile that says I need to upgrade my web2go service, and I never had that message before: this is the 2nd time I’ve had to jailbreak my phone. Is there any way to fix this???

  37. Robert says:

yeah, I’m in the same boat as Roxy, PushFix worked for a while in 3.1.2 and PushDoctor works for 3.1.3 but also only for a few days, then the same wi-fi issue comes up, usually resulting in a T-Mobile UPSELL page for there $1.25 per day unlimited internet EDGE plan, which is fine and dandy, but what am I supposed to do, keep reinstalling pushfix every 2 days?!

  38. Faajian says:

@808 im sorry man, but i had to tell u that u must change your wifi anthena.. maybe its too old.. and u have to keep reinstalling pushfix.. thats a hard task.. so .. IPHONE WIFI SUCKS:(

  40. My developer is trying to convince me to move
to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs.

But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on various websites for
about a year and am concerned about switching to another platform.
I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all
my wordpress posts into it? Any kind of help would be really appreciated!
